Editing Toy Story 3 at 36,000 feet. Wouldn’t you like to be the stranger sitting next to me?

-director Lee Unkrich, posting to his Twitter

via ronenreblogs

This tweet embodies everything that is amazing about technology… Let’s list some of them:

  • He’s in the sky.
  • He’s working on a movie made by computers and people.
  • He’s editing a movie from his laptop.
  • It’s not even the latest and greatest laptop.
  • He appears to have ANOTHER laptop tucked away in the “seatback” pocket in front of him.
  • He was able to make us all a part of this as it was happening.
  • While he’s reclining in the sky, he has wifi.
  • It’s probably going to be a solid movie.
  • Many others…

Back to work again... 4th location of the day. If a second wind can't be fueled by Lil Wayne and Rolaids, it can't be fueled at all.

Hows That? via barbara lilie

I wasn’t going to post this here, because I feel like kind of a jerk every time I mention it, but people keep requesting the same feature on my fix tumblr script, so I thought I’d mention it quickly. I updated the script a few days ago to hide the answers to “ask me anything” questions.

If you have greasemonkey (firefox), greasekit (safari), or a newer version of chrome, install it here.

For the record, this removes imported last.fm posts, “bling” (which I think is gone anyways) and the tumblupon header when you click on a link from the realtime stream thing (also gone?)… also, probably something else that I’m forgetting about.

Be careful out there folks, people are getting sick.

I’m testing a little game that I wrote. I wrote it as example code for my book on the realtime web. I’ve recently launched a stripped down version for people to play with that will help me test a few things. If you’re interested, go have a look.

In this game, you travel around your city (NYC) coughing and spreading your germs. As you do that, your disease will grow and mutate and die off. Sometimes you’ll try to spread your disease only to end up threatened by another one. When that happens you’ll have to decide to challenge the disease or cover your mouth.

Some notes:

  • This may break, get disabled by just when you start winning and will probably steal things from your apartment, you’ve been warned.
  • After you “cough,” you may not see anything happen other than your disease sitting there starring at you. That’s fine, it’s growing.
  • You really should link your account up with your mobile number so that you can get text messages when you’re challenged by another germ.
  • Don’t pass around the URL too much, I’m about to go over my “quota” on App Engine already.
  • All of the source code will be released and explained the book.
  • If you complain about the fonts/UI/visual design, you will be removed from the game in the most uncomfortable way possible.

The initial idea for this game came from Andrew Pile, the sickest of them all. Anything about this game that you enjoy was his idea, the horrible implementation and general crappiness? That was all me!

I was looking for info on Google’s super fast internet connection. I don’t think this is it.

Google launched free in-home wifi powered by toilet puns (I am not joking): bit.ly/bV6ize - How did I miss this?

When the phrase "I am not a lawyer" is omitted on an internet comment, is there some confusion over whether or not the poster is a lawyer?

I just opened up a beta to something very fun... if you want in and didn't get the email, let me know. Especially in NYC. Come test my book!

RT @caro: Earthquake in Illinois a 4.3? That's nothing. Sufjan Stevens' "Illinois" got a 9.2. (LOLz)

bustr:

I like this feature of recommending your friends to be included in the Directory.  I wish they were public.  So here’s my public version.

Last week I nominated Rick Webb.

This week I nominated Ted Roden.

I like them both because they offer frequent unpredictable, slightly at odds with the status-quo, observations about things that I never would have thought of myself but with which I always agree.

And I nominate Buster, who you may know through his amazing array of projects such as Locavore and 750words.

Google Buzz may not be the twitter killer, but it's definitely the end of days for FriendFeed.

I've heard there is a mention of @blastedapp in the "Swedish magazine Macworld" ... anyone know where I can get a copy?
