Upcycle wifebeater attempt two.
Softer tank top=softer yarn and hat? We’ll see.
The wife has started making “yarn” out of shirts. Will one of you tell her she’d probably get more of it if she used long sleeve shirts?

At some point last night I finished the first draft of Building the Realtime User Experience. I sent it to my editor this morning. Now, assuming he doesn’t just point and laugh and send it to the special filing bin, it goes to technical reviewers who can point and laugh.
I’m glad to have made it to this milestone, excited about the impending release and totally nervous about the process of getting from here to the bookshelves.
So for the first time in a long time, I won’t be spending tonight writing or even working on code for the book. I don’t know what I’m going to be doing, but it won’t be in a coffee shop with headphones on.
Has anyone gotten the dashboard API to work at all?
This works:
curl -u “user:password” http://tedroden.tumblr.com/api/read/
This doesn’t:
curl -u “user:password” http://tedroden.tumblr.com/api/dashboard
I’m pretty sure that I’m doing it right, but it’s not returning anything. What gives?

Love this guy. Proprietor of Rosario’s pizza… we used to live about 2 buildings away from it. Now we live about 10 blocks away and can’t be bothered to make it back.
Perhaps we should go back this weekend…
Get it while it’s hot!
Dashboard posts are now accessible from the Tumblr API, and there’s a shit-ton more coming to the API over the next few
weeksdays. While I’m sure you guys will concoct plenty of things we haven’t even begun to imagine, the things we’re super-excited to see are any …
You heard it here first! Also, can anyone get this to work?
When did this appear?
I can’t actually get it to return any data, but it seems to exist in some form. Anyone have any info on this?
Have you ever wanted to take all of the feeds that you follow on tumblr and import them into google reader? No? OK. Nevermind then.
In the future, if you ever reconsider and want to do that, feel free to use a script that I wrote to do just that very thing. It’s available on github as a python script. I’m still not comfortable accepting your passwords on a web service, so you’ll have to run it yourself. Perhaps someone else will set it up as a webservice for all to use (hint hint).
Head over and download “tumblr-tools” from github.

I’ve got to get back to work, but one more thing: aside from traffic from Stumbleupon, enjoysthin.gs traffic is about 50% Spanish speaking.
I heart Colombia.
And I love that I built a site that people know how to use better than I designed it.
The folks at tumblr have taken a very strong stance against comments.
I’ll give you “answers,” but how are “replies” different from comments?
I’m just going to go ahead and say that you should probably use a browser that still exists… from an email today:
Protect yourself against fraudulent websites by opening up a new web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer or Netscape) and typing in the PayPal URL every time you log in to your account.
