Riego van Werschs and the unbearable lightness of being | yatzer | Design Architecture Art Fashion more via Ted Roden

These guys are so good it’s crazy. The UI is great, it’s easy to see what’s going on, and what’s popular, from what region, etc. But that’s not the crazy good part.

Remember when flickr launched stats? You had to go to their stats page, click “See stats” or something similar and then you were greeted with a window saying, “check back tomorrow while we calculate your stats.”

Vimeo just launches it.

As always, Vimeo does it again.

Forrst: Where Designers Who Code meet Developers Who Design | Carsonified

Our very own Kyle has a cool new community for hackers and designers who actually build stuff. If you’re someone like that, ask him for an invite (or ask me and I’ll pass it along).

Come join an already awesome group of developers and designers. If you’d like an invite, just ask!

I’m not going to lie to you, once this is a bit more fleshed out, I hope github buys this.

Upcycle wifebeater attempt two.

Softer tank top=softer yarn and hat? We’ll see.

The wife has started making “yarn” out of shirts. Will one of you tell her she’d probably get more of it if she used long sleeve shirts?

Love this guy. Proprietor of Rosario’s pizza… we used to live about 2 buildings away from it. Now we live about 10 blocks away and can’t be bothered to make it back.

Perhaps we should go back this weekend…

I’ve got to get back to work, but one more thing: aside from traffic from Stumbleupon, enjoysthin.gs traffic is about 50% Spanish speaking.

I heart Colombia.

And I love that I built a site that people know how to use better than I designed it.

Editing Toy Story 3 at 36,000 feet. Wouldn’t you like to be the stranger sitting next to me?

-director Lee Unkrich, posting to his Twitter

via ronenreblogs

This tweet embodies everything that is amazing about technology… Let’s list some of them:

  • He’s in the sky.
  • He’s working on a movie made by computers and people.
  • He’s editing a movie from his laptop.
  • It’s not even the latest and greatest laptop.
  • He appears to have ANOTHER laptop tucked away in the “seatback” pocket in front of him.
  • He was able to make us all a part of this as it was happening.
  • While he’s reclining in the sky, he has wifi.
  • It’s probably going to be a solid movie.
  • Many others…

Hows That? via barbara lilie

Be careful out there folks, people are getting sick.

I’m testing a little game that I wrote. I wrote it as example code for my book on the realtime web. I’ve recently launched a stripped down version for people to play with that will help me test a few things. If you’re interested, go have a look.

In this game, you travel around your city (NYC) coughing and spreading your germs. As you do that, your disease will grow and mutate and die off. Sometimes you’ll try to spread your disease only to end up threatened by another one. When that happens you’ll have to decide to challenge the disease or cover your mouth.

Some notes:

  • This may break, get disabled by just when you start winning and will probably steal things from your apartment, you’ve been warned.
  • After you “cough,” you may not see anything happen other than your disease sitting there starring at you. That’s fine, it’s growing.
  • You really should link your account up with your mobile number so that you can get text messages when you’re challenged by another germ.
  • Don’t pass around the URL too much, I’m about to go over my “quota” on App Engine already.
  • All of the source code will be released and explained the book.
  • If you complain about the fonts/UI/visual design, you will be removed from the game in the most uncomfortable way possible.

The initial idea for this game came from Andrew Pile, the sickest of them all. Anything about this game that you enjoy was his idea, the horrible implementation and general crappiness? That was all me!

I was looking for info on Google’s super fast internet connection. I don’t think this is it.
